The cabin is booked, the route is set — leaving one question that is easily underestimated: how do you actually get to the port? Anyone travelling by train from NRW to Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Kiel usually changes several times, drags cases up platform stairs and frets about the connection. Yet the relaxation should begin with the journey there.
The problem with travelling yourself
Cruise ports are not around the corner. From Holzwickede it is a good two and a half hours to Bremerhaven or Amsterdam, a little more to Hamburg or Kiel. By your own car that means: a long drive, then days of expensive parking at the port — over a two-week trip that adds up fast. By train it means: changing with luggage, and if there is a delay the whole plan wobbles. The ship does not wait.
Why the direct transfer pays off
